iphone Fold released date and design revealed

iPhone Fold remains a highly anticipated but unannounced foldable device from Apple, often rumored as Apple’s first foldable iPhone with either a book-style clamshell (like Galaxy Z Flip) or tablet-style (like Pixel Fold) design. All details stem from supply chain leaks, patents, and analyst reports rather than official confirmation, pointing to a potential 2026-2027 debut. Early whispers suggest Apple prioritizes a crease-free display and durable hinge, positioning it as a premium rival to Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold series.

OVERVIEW OF IPHONE FOLD

Design and Display

Apple’s foldable envisions an 8-inch unfolded LTPO OLED main screen (1.5K resolution, 120Hz ProMotion, HDR) paired with a 6.2-6.6-inch cover display for single-handed use. The ultra-thin glass (UTG) hinge aims for a near-invisible crease via advanced layering, with IPX8 water resistance and a titanium frame like the iPhone 16 Pro. Thickness unfolds to ~4.5 mm (thinner than Galaxy Z Fold6’s 5.6mm) and folds to ~12mm; weight is around 240 g. Colors mimic the iPhone lineup: Natural Titanium, Black Titanium, and Desert Titanium. Patents show self-healing hinge materials and outward folding for larger cover screen utility.

Core innovation is Samsung Display’s M14-series foldable panels with reduced crease visibility via multi-layer polarizers and anti-reflective coatings. Inner: 7.8-8.3-inch OLED, 2520×2160 (2K+), 120Hz LTPO, 2,500 nits peak brightness, Always-On support. Outer: 6.3-inch Super Retina XDR OLED, matching iPhone 17’s 120 Hz. An under-display front camera on the inner screen enables full-screen media; stylus support (Apple Pencil-like) is rumored for productivity. Durability hits 500,000 folds, surpassing competitors.

Camera

No Leica branding here-just Apple’s own touch on the triple rear camera setup: a 48MP Fusion main lens with f/1.6 and sensor-shift OIS, a 48MP ultra-wide that grabs a huge 120-degree field of view, and a 12MP 5x tetraprism telephoto.

The image quality? Right up there with the iPhone 17 Pro Max, but tweaked for foldable tricks like FlexCam. Up front, you get a 20MP under-display camera, while the outer side packs a 12MP TrueDepth lens for Face ID. Video recording jumps to 8K at 30 fps, you can shoot in ProRes Log, and spatial video capture is along for the ride. AI steps in to auto-adjust everything for whatever angle you fold it-so, flip it to 90 degrees, and portrait mode just works.

Performance

The A20 Pro chip, found in the iPhone 17 series, is the next generation of the A19 chip and is manufactured using either 3 nm or 2 nm TSMC technology. It features a 16-core Neural Engine that supports Apple’s on-device Intelligence features. The device comes with 16-24 GB of LPDDR5X RAM, ensuring smooth multitasking across multiple screens. Storage options range from 512GB to 2TB using UFS 4.0 technology. A vapor chamber cooling system helps maintain optimal performance during extended gaming or productivity tasks. The phone runs iOS 20, which includes a special interface for foldable devices, offering features like dynamic app resizing, split-screen multitasking, improved Stage Manager, and hover gestures over the hinge.

Connectivity

5G mmWave/sub-6, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, UWB 2.0 for precision Find My. Face ID (outer/inner), ultrasonic fingerprint backup. Stereo speakers with spatial audio; no headphone jack. Extras: S Pen Fold support, DeX-like desktop mode, ecosystem integration (Continuity, Sidecar with Mac). Security: Secure Enclave, end-to-end encryption.

Rumored Launch Timeline

Reports from analysts like Ming-Chi Kuo and Ross Young indicate Apple could unveil iPhone Fold prototypes in 2026, with mass production and launch targeted for late 2026 or early 2027. Samsung Display and BOE are tipped as main panel suppliers for a 7.8-8.0-inch inner foldable OLED with LTPO tech for 120 Hz refresh and under-display camera tech to minimize creases. Delays are common in foldables due to yield issues, so 2028 remains possible if Apple demands perfection.

iphone Fold: Availability of price in India

The Apple iPhone Fold costs between $2,000 and $2,500. In India, that’s around 1,71,000 to 2,13,000 rupees.
